“Launching [curious] gives me the space to help people and companies deliver their next best. Everything I’ve done in my career has so wonderfully prepared me for and led me here.”
As CEO and Founder of [curious], Lisa leads a leadership and change agency focused on helping organizations transform internal culture to influence business strategy growth, leadership coaching and human resources strategy and practice.
With a relational style and strategic sensibility, Lisa applies design thinking in addressing the complexities of organizational life in simple ways. She believes in helping people and organizations build capacity to become change influencers – not change managers. To optimize results and positioning, Lisa believes a focus on leadership, organizational culture and business strategy are interdependent and need intentional, sustained focus.
Having enjoyed a wonderful, 25 year career with Macy’s, Inc., Lisa most recently served as Vice President of Employee Engagement for the enterprise. Her leadership experience at Macy’s includes strategy and practice in the areas of internal communication, recognition, human resources policy development, labor relations, group benefits, generalist human resources management, and innovating early dispute resolution for the retail environment. Her work includes culture-centered development and integration during transformational change, including acquisitions, organizational reshaping and additional key growth strategies.
One of her treasured experiences continues to be spending Thanksgiving Day each year in New York working with the team delivering the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
“Why [curious]? I happen to believe from my years leading in the retail industry that curiosity is a high-value leadership behavior. When we’re curious, we explore, think beyond, admit we don’t know and deepen relationships through inquiry and listening, among many other things. It’s foundational to three key cultural icons that drive engagement in the work environment: ownership, relationships and flexibility.”
Within the community, Lisa is a member of United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council and the Bayley Board of Directors and Strategic Planning Committee. She serves as Co-Chairperson of the WE Lead Alumnae Board, a women’s leadership initiative of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber of Commerce and also sits on the Cincinnati Regional Chamber’s Leadership Advisory Committee. Lisa also contributes to the impact of the local arts community through her regional grantmaking work with Artswave.
Lisa is completing a PhD in Leadership and Change with Antioch University, where her research is focusing on curious leadership and its influence on building a culture of engagement. In her scholar work, she is contributing to a colloquium experience currently examining the contemporary gaps in women’s leadership theory to define opportunities for further research and development.
